La Salette Pre University College is a minority institution established by Missionaries of La Salette called MS to meet the global challenges of students coming from different classes of Hunsur city and her surrounding villages. Education is man”s TRUE RELIGION and in La Salette it’s possible through holistic way of teaching. Ethical values are fundamental to lead a good life. Students are taught to explore their best potential in all activities of the college, related to intellectual, physical and spiritual growth. The college aims at the best opportunity for students. Each student is a valuable stone in his or her own way. The motto of the college is “ TO HAVE FULLNESS OF LIFE.” Therefore utmost care and concentration is given to each student, while they are in the college and outside as well. Kind support and availability of priests and nuns is an added advantage for the proper growth of students as they often take moral classes.
The college is situated in Mardur village 8 k m from heart of Hunsur city and 2 k m from state highway of Mysore Bantwal. Though the institution is a charitable Trust, provides the best education possible to meet the needs of the students. Well equipped labs for science and technology and language lab to teach English, French and Spanish.
The college is surrounded by green lush around 50 acres where a separate play ground is set for track and field, basket ball, skating, table tennis etc. Students interested in sports are given provision to excel in their choice and encouraged to participate in all the sports meet. So far our students have represented in Taluk, District and the State level and have won the prizes. On sports quota many of our students are appointed in the state and central governments.
Girl students are encouraged to participate in all the college activities and taught their social responsibilities through organizing various programmes. Women empowerment is being explained to them and courage is filled to accept the challenges of life. Female lecturers are appointed to help and assist the girl students.
Transportation is provided to students from their destination. Thus surrounding village students need not depend on anyone to reach to college. At present our transportation facility covers almost 70 villages and two major cities Hunsur and K R Nagar.
In Sanskrit there is a meaningful line that aptly suits to every student : Vidya dadati vinayam, vinaya dadati paatrataam | Paatratva Dhanamaapnoti, Dhanaat Dharmam tatah sukham which means Knowledge generates humility .....true/ complete. Knowledge gives discipline, from discipline comes worthiness, from worthiness one gets wealth, from wealth one does good deeds and from good deeds joys comes. Students are moulded to get an everlasting joy imparting the wisdom of lecturers in varied subjects in the college.
